Youtube Video of the Final Moments of S8.com

November 6, 2009

This video is a little rough, but if you want to see the final momentsof S8.com from the view of Obor, the winning World Wonder holder, then enjoy watching it:

I didn’t make this video, it was sent to me by Heinz James from Ap.PTT and I’m not sure who the person who originally made it was. Whoever it was, thanks!

This video is the first to come from my new Youtube account that I’ve made for this site.  If I have the time I would like to make my own videos sometime, but right now I think I have other things to do relating to this site that are more important. I might try to make a “Travian playlist” on Youtube that I think readers of this site might like, so if you like this site and you have a Youtube account you might want to subscribe to my account. S8.com: Runner-Up Postgame Speech From Brooke (SBD)

November 6, 2009

Because 2nd place and 3rd place were so close on Server 8, Travian Champions is pleased to present a runner-up post-game speech from Brooke, one the leaders of Silent but Deadly.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say, we had a fun server, and although our quad was split, we still had a blast. Sometimes its more fun to say “I’m not gonna take any crap,” then it is to grin and bear it, that has been my personal moto all server. Perhaps if Sin and Dash had kissed and made up with Ares, we would have had a better shot at the win, but it’s not all about a win, it’s about having fun, and we had plenty of that.

Some people question why we only took one World Wonder, which was probably our downfall. The answer is because the quad was in such a shaky political situation leading up to endgame, we decided that to take more then one would possibly cause a total split, and we wanted to at least make one final team effort.

I made some great friends on S8, from all quads, and I honestly cannot think of a single leader who played out the whole game that I dont like or respect, from any of the major alliances. I think most leaders feel the same, and that’s awesome. For as much shit talking as I am known to do, really, its all in fun, and what is better then that? Congrats to Aperian and Ptt, for pulling off the win. See you next round :)

Deepest Regards, Brooke.

Brooke was on the leadership council of SBD, which was a coalation of alliances in the NE that had been at war with each other for most of the server, but yet managed to have very impressive close finish on S8.com. Brooke also finished Server 8 ranked as the #35 player and the 29th best defender.

Expect an interview with Brooke on Travian Champions sometime in the near future!

Ap.PTT Victory Speech for S8.com

November 3, 2009

Travian Champions is proud to present this victory speech from Red Queen, one of the leaders of the Ap.PTT Meta-alliance.

It is with a great sense of accomplishment and appreciation for all loyal and active members of both apeiron and PTT that I announce that the ap.PTT alliance has successfully completed the Wonder of the World, From the Ashes, and has won server 8.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts the dedication and unity of apeiron and PTT; tonight is your answer. Working together as one, we have shown the true power of teamwork, trust, cooperation, and coordination. All of our efforts up until now; the ceaseless troop building, sending countless merchants, and too many sleepless nights defending our brothers in arms, has led us to this point. It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we have done all these months, victory is ours!

Our task was not an easy one. Our enemy was well trained, well equipped, battle-hardened, and they fought savagely until the last man. For this, they have earned our respect. To LEGO, you were an implacable foe that showed great teamwork, resiliency, and grit throughout the server. To SBD, you played with unquestioned skill, audacity, and discipline.

Deserving of special recognition are all those that spent so much of their time, energy, and patience building the ap.PTT World Wonders. Thank you Team Indoing, Team Klynch, Team Musi, Team Dani3x, Team Fred Garvin, Team Dyktator, Team King of Defense, and our winning Team Obor. Although Obor has placed the capstone on our victory, it was the collective efforts of all of our WW teams that made this night possible.

To our WW Hammers, we would be nowhere without your months-long commitment to building, defending, and feeding your armies. We know your patience, dedication, and gold reserves are not limitless, but we thank you for playing as if they were.

A big thank you to all the apeiron and PTT leadership and officers for spending so many hours organizing, managing, and coordinating the alliances. It was your willingness to put the needs of the alliance above all that has placed ap.PTT above all. Personally I would like to thank James-Heinz and the apeiron leadership for trusting us as much as we trusted them. Our victories were your victories, your defeats were our defeats.

In conclusion, let us take this moment to appreciate our victories, learn from our defeats and cherish all the many friends we have made on this server both within and without our alliances. To each and every member of apeiron and PTT, never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you!

Best of luck to all and happy hunting.

On behalf of áp.PTT™,

Ice

The Red Queen account was co-played by two players, Ice and Jas. This was only her second time playing a game of Travian. In addition to helping lead Ap.PTT to a hard-fought victory, Red Queen finished ranked as the 60th player overall and the 180th best attacker.

S8.com: Runner-Up Postgame Speech From LEGO

November 3, 2009

Here’s the runner-up speech from the LEGO alliance on S8.com!

CONGRATS to the winners for the S8 Server.

Its been a real game where mostly all the players had fun playing, interacting and building friends all throughout from the start. It has been a wonderful and an exciting server till the last second, I believe good & strong opponents led to such an excitement.

I thank all the members of LEGO for being a part of our team and as promised we delivered the maximum of excitement. Without you folks it wouldnt have been possible to make LEGO such strong. I appreciate the game spirit with PTT folks as well, as being giving us an opportunity to be their top foes.

The evolution of LEGO of what i recollect was -E-, -EL-, LEGO (i.e. Merger of EL and OG). After this there were many alliances created and with help from all others, its become the complete LEGO.

I am not sure how many of the fellow players I will connect with in the next server, so till then Best of Luck and enjoy Life till then.

Cheers,
LEGO Leadership

Ap.PTT win S8.com

November 1, 2009

Ending Screen

After a long and grueling game of Travian with more plot twists and false finishes during the Endgame than anyone would have expected, Ap.PTT have won Server 8 on Travian.com. Congratulations to them on their victory, and congratulations to LEGO and SBD for putting up one hell of a fight. All 3 sides in this endgame played excellently and I’m sure many players from this server will be near to the Hall of Champions again sometime in the future.

Look for a Hall of Champions Induction for the winner sometime tomorrow, and I’ll try to get as much coverage and discussion about this epic server on this site as I can over the next couple of days.

And then we’ll turn this site’s attention to S6.com, and the final game of Travian 3.0!

Another Video from Speed.com

November 1, 2009

I posted a youtube video made by the winners of Speed.com earlier, but here’s another one from one of their opponents. It was linked to in a comment on the old Video, but I think it definitely deserves its own post. It’s set to the music from “Breathe” by U2  which is one of the best songs from their new album, and it even has an inspirational message at the end.  (Two U2 songs in a week? Man, talk about a band that’s everywhere.)  Hine’s World Wonder may have come in last place, but it’s probably the highest last-place World Wonder I’ve seen at level 61. Enjoy:

Thanks a lot to Hines for sending this video to me.

S9.com video follow-up

October 28, 2009

“I’m hiding from these stupid spies, which kind of pointless because I’m posting this on Youtube…” - Sauce Monkey

Remember the video from Server 9 I posted earlier? Well there’s a follow-up video.

Watch as our beloved hero Sauce Monkey faces the horrors of massive attacks from the alliance JD, while also having to deal with he potential social ostracization of letting his football loving friends find out that he’s a hardcore Travian player.

If I was him I’d be a lot more worried about letting them see me wear that pink hat. Oh Snap!

Sauce Monkey has dropped down to 12 place in the rankings now, but that number will probably fluctuate as he rebuilds and possibly faces more attacks brought on by his trash-talk.

The temperature on Server 9 is continuing to rise slowly, with tensions between the big alliances continuing to grow, and rouge alliance like JD making life difficult for them. It should get really interesting once the Artifacts get here.

Speed.com Winners Inducted Into The Hall of Champions

Travian Champions is proud to make the first ever Speed Server Induction into the Hall of Champions. Congratulations to PFF&TLL for their hard fought victory and for being the first alliance to win the Speed.com server for Travian 3.5.

S8.com: Living Dangerously

October 27, 2009

Obor from Ap.PTT came achingly close to ending the Server 8 endgame, as his World Wonder reached level 99 yesterday.

With only hours to go before the game was won, a single army from Silent But Deadly marched in and knocked the World Wonder back a  few levels, down to level 97. It has since rebuilt back to level 98. Here are the current standings:

WW Standings Oct 27

And here’s the battle report from the attack that stalled Obor, from Sammi of the alliance Hype, who is ranked as #54 both for attacking and population.

Obor WW att1

I’ve heard they might have been another attack that hit earlier to damage the walls, but I don’t have a report for that.

So where do we stand now? Well, with the walls damaged and the Lv.99 Natars on their way, the defense at Obor’s Wonder is about to get rocked. They have to face the Lv.98 Natars on top of that, for the second time in as many days. If this World Wonder is ever going to be brought down, now is the time to do it.

Is it odd that only one hammer was sent by SBD to do the job? What would have happened if it had come up short? It would have been too late to save the game (See this post about the recent Speed.com server for an example of a last-minute attack coming up short). Even if they have accurate scouting reports, the defense can change from the time a Wonder is scouted and before the attack hits.

Ap.PTT’s opponents are either on their last legs, or they’re living dangerously. But if they are on their last legs, they’re not letting it on and they’re not giving any signs of throwing in the towel.  They want to win. So I’m inclined to think they know what they’re doing and the risks they’re taking. Maybe they think they can’t afford to waste an army at this point. Or perhaps they want to take advantage of the high-level Natar attacks to weaken the Ap.PTT defense. Maybe they’re just so good that they can afford to take risks that would make me very nervous if I was in their place.

There have been World Wonders brought down from Lv.99 before, even once before on this server! (I was busy at the time, that’s why I missed it). But it’s a risky place to let your opponent get to.

It’s almost a polar opposite from when Ap.PTT attacked SBD’s World Wonder with 39 endgame armies, as instead a solitary force is relied upon to do the job. Sammi was up to the task this time, but there’s no room for error if the enemies of Ap.PTT want to stave off a victory again. If this is all part of a plan, it’s sure to be a grand one, so stay tuned because something big is going to happen soon on this server, one way or another.

S6.com: The Final War of Travian 3.0

October 26, 2009

The S6.com endgame started on September 25th, so they’re now roughly a month into it.

This will be the last-ever Travian.com endgame with the Travian 3.0 rules, and the last server without Artifacts, Horse Drinking Troughs, Breweries, and the other new upgrades of Travian 3.5.

And it promises to help version 3.0 go out with a bang. Server 6 has a lot of highly skilled players in very competitive alliances.

Unlike some other recent endgames, this one has several different sides fighting it out, instead of just two sides holding almost of the World Wonders. When I have time I’ll do more of a profile on these alliances (anyone want to help me out with that?)

But for now, here are some recent standings and an outlook on how each alliance is doing.

Alliances

~S~L~: 4 World Wonders, 3 of which in the Southeast, one in the far south part of the Southwest.

LoD: 3 World Wonders, located in the Northeast

MFD: 3 World Wonders, located in the Northwest

One: 1 World Wonder (I guess their name is accurate), located in the Southeast

Oz: 1 World Wonder, also in the Southeast.

There’s a 13th World Wonder but it doesn’t have any plans and it’s still on level 0, so it likely will never become a factor in this Endgame.

There’s a great discussion thread in the Travian.com forums for the Server 6 endgame if you’d like to know more.

Also, if you’re a Star Wars fan, be sure to check this post out: http://forum.travian.com/showthread.php?t=128670

I’m going to be working on getting access to an account on the server so that I can follow things more closely.

S9.com Update & Funny Video

October 26, 2009

Because covering what’s happening on Servers 1, 6, 8, and Speed wasn’t enough for me, here’s an update on Server 9.com.

(Does this have anything to do with the fact that I’m playing on Server 9? Guilty as charged.)

With the Artifacts set to arrive soon, and the smaller alliances falling by the wayside, two sides have emerged as the frontrunners.

The strongest Meta-alliances in the South have teamed up into an elite Meta-alliance Called ONE, and that led to the top Northeast Meta-alliance, Leathal, and the top Northwest Meta-alliance, Thunder, to make a non-aggression pact with each other.

This server is shaping up to be a true battle between North and South, as you can see from this alliance map.Alliance Map Oct.26

(Red = ONE, Blue = Thunder & Leathal)

For more about how the battle lines are being drawn, you can read this thread.

There are several notable rebel alliance dotted around the map as well, so when the Artifacts arrive there will likely be a huge amount of fighting.

One of the top rebel alliance is JD, ranked #23 overall (all of the top 20 alliance belong to ONE/Thunder/Leathal). A player from ONE-SM, Sauce Monkey (ranked 16th overall)  made a video of his attack on one of JD’s leaders and uploaded it to Youtube and posted it on the forums, and it’s sure to go down as one of the best Travian videos of all time (Yes, this is for real, pink hat and all).

ONE has promised to make more videos in the future, and I’ll be sure to post them on the blog if they’re as good as this one.

S8.com: Ap.PTT Retakes The Lead

October 25, 2009

Ap.PTT has moved into first place on S8.com. Here are the current standings:

WW Standings Oct 25

Ap.PTT were able to assault Arnold’s World Wonder recently, so it’s stalled at level 97, dangerously close to victory. They had better be confident in their ability to win before Arnold can recover.

Here’s one battle report from their attacks on Arnold, I would assume there were other hits as well. (Being able to follow the Lv.97 Natar attack probably helped soften up the defense there as well)

Speed.com: Armies From the Losing Side Left at Home

October 25, 2009

A player from one of the alliances that lost on the recently completed Speed Server posted on the forums to say that they had armies that could have been used, but were never sent. Let this be an important lesson for any other alliance out there.

You can read the entire thread on the forums, but here are the highlights:

Xicote (leader of the alliance INT NW): Congratulations PFF for the victory,

INT NW is a portuguese alliance from ptx. We were here by our own, all the defence in Landinho’s Wonder Wonder was from INT members, we were 30 members only.
We had the BIGGEST ARMIES IN NW!
PVP really sucks, because of them INT didnt used 7 hammers

We attacked Raysama (the Winning World Wonder) and PVP said that 3 more attacks were going there, but they didnt attack, and we lost

PVP AND TG (other alliances on the Speed Sever that were allied against PTT&TLL) SAID THAT 3 More attacks were going to Raysama, we trusted them.
THEY FAILED, the didnt attack.

Obviously, it’s a shame that these huge armies were never used when they definitely could have done some damage and possibly changed the outcome of the game. But who’s to blame for that, the alliance that made them and didn’t use them, or the alliance that miscommunicated about how much they were sending? As you would expect, opinions on the Travian.com forums are split. Here’s one response:

Undisputed 1 (PFF): Come on! (PTT&TLL had) three top WWs and you have your hammers are still at home? You dont need PVP to give you orders, just use common sense.

I’m not sure I can say myself, but there’s one person on the forums who makes a point that I agree with:

Surikat: Making a hammer is not the only thing, knowing when to use it, is just as important. And a little overkill is aways going to be better than a huge underkill after lvl 90-95.

I’m sure all the losing alliances will remember mistake the next time they reach the final stages of the of a Travian game. If you’re going to wait until your opponent is past level 95 to strike, you had better not make any mistakes! Especially on a Speed Server, where a lot gametime goes by before you can correct it.
